Questions about our work

Short answers for the people who sign the work order.

Are you licensed, and how do I check?

We hold a California C-10 electrical contractor license, and we carry liability and workers' compensation insurance. The number is in the footer. Search it on the Contractors State License Board's lookup page before you hire anyone, us included.

Who pulls the permit?

We do, where the city or county asks for one, and the bid says so. New poles and new circuits usually need one; swapping a head on an existing pole often doesn't. The agency decides, not us.

What is in a written bid?

The scope pole by pole, what is not included, who pulls the permit, the schedule and how we'll handle the lanes. Anything that changes the scope goes on a change order before we do it.

What happens on a lot walk?

We walk the lot after dark, with you or your site contact if you like, and mark every dark, flickering or leaning pole on a map. You keep the map even if you don't hire us.

Why do you work at night?

A lot is easiest to test when it's dark and easiest to close when it's empty. We schedule night or early-morning work with you, and we come back after dark to check what we touched.

Do you work on utility-owned poles and streetlights?

No. Poles and streetlights the utility owns are the utility's to repair. We work on the lights on your property and on poles a city or private owner maintains. If you're not sure who owns a pole, ask us and we'll help you find out.

Do you take emergency calls at night?

No. The office answers Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and night crews work by schedule. If a pole is down or sparking, call 911 and keep clear, then call us in office hours.

Does the crew speak Spanish?

Jaime, Elvira, Valentina and Nicolás do, in the office and on the lift. Not everyone on the crew does, so ask for one of them when you call and we'll make sure they're on your job.

Still have a question?

Call or text the office, Monday to Friday.
